Arolla captures first quake of 2022

Wednesday's 7.4 M #earthquake in Japan was the first  >7 M EQ of 2022, and it was captured by our broadband seismometer arolla, back at GS HQ, over 9,380 km from the epicenter. It was rewarding for us to measure an EQ so far way. Even from across the globe, we are all connected.

We're located next to some very punctual trains, so the signal also includes local train noise. (Occupational hazard around here.) #Swisstiming
