FAQ How to Enable Longterm Logging with uCon


1. Introduction
  • This procedure describes how to write the uCon screen output of the serial console to a text file.


2. Required Tools
  • uCon connected to serial console of GeoSIG instrument


3. Enable Longterm Logging
  • In uCon, go to Logging -> LongTerm
  • Tick the box Enabled
  • In the field Prefix:, choose a prefix for the logfile name (it is recommended to include the COM port number)
  • Click the button [Browse] and choose the directory to save the longterm log
  • Screen content of uCon will be written to the specified text file (with a date suffix) until you close uCon


4. (Optional) Save the uCon configuration for a later session
  • In uCon, go to File -> Save as
  • Choose a name for the uCon configuration
  • Configuration settings of the current session such as baud rate, COM port and longterm logging are saved in the file
  • The next time you connect to an instrument on the same COM port, you can import the settings by clicking the [Browse] button
