FAQ GeoDAS How to Cut Miniseed Files


1. Introduction
  • This procedure describes how to cut a miniseed file and save the selection as a fragment.


2. Required Tools
  • GeoDAS installed on a Windows computer
  • Miniseed file to cut


3. Open Miniseed file
  • Double-click the miniseed file to open it in GeoDAS.


4. Select Fragment to Cut
  • Use your mouse to select the section of the miniseed file you want to cut.

  • Click into the yellow part of the window to make the cursor appear. (The background of the graph will change its colour.)
  • Under Edit, click Copy Fragment.

 

4. Paste Fragment in New Window
  • Under Edit, click Paste in New Window
  • A new window showing the selected fragment will open.


5. Save Fragment as File
  • Right-click into the graph in the new window and click Save fragment as file.
  • A new miniseed file with prefix FRG_ will be stored in the same directory as the original file.
